Youth (until end of calendar year of 19th birthday) are free to join the Oklahoma Iris Society Membership! Youth can sign up to join at an OIS Meeting or Event. Youth that attend meetings frequently receive Iris or other goodybags!

Oklahoma Iris Society is proud to present our new Scholarship initiative, beginning this year. It is open to (current) High School Juniors and Seniors, who are active members of OIS. “Active” is defined as those that qualify for our Christmas in September program, with additional options for our less local members to qualify.
> they can volunteer in OIS gardens, or if they are outside the OKC area, they can propose and maintain a public garden project. Standard Christmas in September accounting applies.)
>>OIS will provide Iris for the proposed public garden after the student submits a plan, including the execution and maintenance of the proposed garden. This is for students outside of the main OKC area without easy access to our normal volunteer opportunities.
> Must have trackable hours (at minimum, qualify for Christmas in September) - hours in their public garden, OIS volunteer opportunities, or entering in shows, set up, hybridizing activities, etc.

The OIS Scholarship awards $1000 towards the College, University, or VoTech (post secondary education) that the student will attend, and without any major or specialization requirements. To formally apply, please send an essay to

All essays should be at least 5 paragraphs, but no more than 2 pages.
Prompt: “What do you enjoy most about Oklahoma Iris Society, and why? What would you love to see in programs or what would you change for the better?”
Scholarship applications are due June 30th, and the winner will be announced at the Christmas in September Meeting. We are so excited to be able to support our Youth Members in their future endeavors!
